New Covenant Class
Creeds and confessions have been part of the liturgy of the
Christian Church life for nearly 2000 years. What is a confession?
Why do churches have confessions? These and other questions will be
addressed as the New Covenant Class takes up a four-week study of
the Confession of Belhar, beginning August 9th. Emphasizing the
church’s mandate for unity, this 1980’s confession addressed the
specific problem of apartheid in South Africa as jeopardizing “the
truth and power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” Could it be an
important statement of faith for the PCUSA? For Royster?
If
you have no interest in rousing discussions of faith and practice
-- a morning in the New Covenant Class may change your life. We
invite you to join us at 9:30 each Sunday morning.

Handbell
Choir
The Royster Ringers are looking for more members!
No experience is necessary. It's
easy and fun! Don't worry about not being good enough.
If you can count to four and keep a steady beat, you qualify.
You will learn basic handbell ringing techniques and will be ready
to play your first piece of music after just a few quick lessons and
rehearsals. Our music is easy to learn. We will rehearse one evening each week.
If you're interested in learning more
about Handbell Ringing, please contact Jeannine Perry at
(757)471-6369 or by e-mail:
jperry4125@aol.com.
Don't Spend a Penny!
That's right, save your pennies and bring them to church. Our
Outreach Committee will collect them for use in Outreach Projects
geared toward helping others. So put in your two-cents worth -
and then some. There are containers in the narthex and on the
round table near the rear sanctuary door. Thanks in advance
for your ongoing contributions.
Blood
Pressure Screenings
As
our Parish Nurse, Jane Ledbetter is available each week following
the Worship Service to provide this healthy check-up. Jane is
available in the Pace Class Room for blood pressure screenings.
The Pace Class Room is located directly behind the Sanctuary and can
be reached through the front side doors.
MINISTRY OF HEALING
Would you like individual, confidential prayer for yourself or
another? The practice of praying for one another, the laying on of
hands, the anointing with oil for healing are ancient aspects of the
ministry of the Church which we are continuing here at Royster.
There will be ministers at the foot of the pulpit each Sunday
following worship.
